Jeneice

I’m my mother’s daughter!

“Did you even bring up the money, Carlos? How are we supposed to move without the money?” I asked, looking at him crazy and wondering why was he wasting my time talking about this other stuff.

“Did you not hear me say that the girl is in the hospital fighting for her life, Jeneice? I can’t believe you sitting in my face asking me did I ask her about the money she took from you! She used to be your best friend, doesn’t that count for something?” I couldn’t believe that man was in my face with tears building up in his eyes.

“Oh, cry me a river, Carlos. Why does it look like you about to cry? We both know she’s going to make it. Don’t get brand new, we both love our money above all else, so don’t look at me like I’m some monster. Remember, it’s about us, baby. All you have to do is tell her that if she gives me the money back, you will drop the custody case,” I whispered in his ears as I straddled him, giving him soft kisses on his ear.

“I’m not going through with this anymore, Jeneice. I can’t hurt her any more than I have already. That girl has never done anything to you or me, never. I have let money influence me too much. I might not do right by my kids as a father, but the best thing I have done was allow them to be raised by people who will put them first!” He pushed me on the bed out of his lap before standing up. My ears and mind had to be playing tricks on me. Never has Carlos picked a good deed over money, and never has he turned me down in the bedroom. What was really going on? This just couldn’t be happening.

“What? You can’t be for real! Was they giving away free consciences at the hospital or something?” I said, killing myself with laughter. “Stick to the plan, Carlos. You don’t want to end up on the ‘people that can kiss my behind’ list!” I grabbed his face after I slipped on my shoes and said, “Me and you are one and the same, baby, don’t let no whore that sexed you and your brother, get in the way of your money!” After kissing his lips, I walked out the hotel room. Pulling out my cell phone, I scrolled until I saw my mother’s number. I opened the car door, climbed in, and then hit call next to her name.

“Hello,” she spoke, answering on the first ring.

“We have a big problem.”

“Jeneice, everything is a big problem to you, dear. Now slow down talking, and tell me what seems to be the problem.”

“Carlos is trying to back out of our deal. I’m pretty sure you already know that Daddy’s mistake by the lake was hit by a car. What the heck was you thinking, Mom? That was not the plan,” I said, as I removed the phone from my ear to yell directly into the talk part of the phone.
